The investment team at Timber Point has successfully worked together since 2004 and have managed global  multi-asset portfolios at some of the world's most well-respected investment management firms.

David Cleary, CFA

David Cleary, CFA is the President and Chief Investment Officer at Timber Point Capital Management, LLC.  Prior to founding TPCM, David served as the Chief Investment Officer at Crow Point Partners.  Before Crow Point, Mr. Cleary spent 23 years at Lazard Asset Management where he held a series of senior portfolio management roles over multi-asset and global fixed income strategies. Additionally, he served as the firm’s global head of fixed income, a $26 billion platform. Prior to Lazard, David worked at UBS and IBJ Schroder, mostly in fixed income asset management roles. He began working in the asset management field in 1987 upon his graduation from Cornell University, with a BS in Business Management and Applied Economics. Mr. Cleary holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Ryan Thibodeaux

Ryan Thibodeaux is the Founder and President of Goodwood Consulting. Prior to starting Goodwood, Ryan was a Partner and Senior Equity Research Analyst with Maple Leaf Partners, LP. Maple Leaf Partners is a long short equity hedge fund started in New York by Dane Andreeff in 1996. In 2003, Julian Robertson’s Tiger Management seeded Maple Leaf and it became what is commonly referred to as a “Tiger Seed.” The firm eventually grew to over $2 billion in assets under management. Ryan worked in Maple Leaf’s Baton Rouge, Louisiana headquarters from 2002 to 2011. Prior to Maple Leaf, Ryan worked for Morgan Stanley (2002) and was an Analyst at Enron Corp (2001). In 1998, Ryan co-founded Internet Innovations, an Internet company that was acquired in 2000. Ryan earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Louisiana State University in 2000. He is also a founding Board Member for the Emerge School for Autism.

Patrick Mullin, CFA

Patrick Mullin, CFA is a Partner and Managing Director at Timber Point Capital Management, LLC. Mr.  Mullin is the Founder and CIO of Ardara Capital, a small and mid capitalization hedge fund founded in 2011.  From 2013 through 2017, Mr. Mullin served as a consultant at DeepDive Automated Research, a financial technology company, where he fostered important client and strategic relationships. Prior to Ardara Capital, Mr. Mullin spent 10 years at Lazard Asset Management where he was the Portfolio Manager for the $3 billion AUM U.S. Small Cap Product in addition to his analytical coverage of the energy, technology and healthcare industries.  Mr. Mullin is a graduate of Trinity College, has an M.B.A. from The Kenan-Flagler School at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.


Jonathan Bale

Jonathan Bale is a Partner and Managing Director. Prior to joining Goodwood in 2013, Mr. Bale was an Analyst at FPL Asset Management. Prior to FPL Asset Management, Jonathan played golf internationally for the Golf Union of Wales. As a representative of his native country’s National Team Jonathan competed in over 100 World Ranking events across Europe and the United States. Before playing for his national team, Jonathan played collegiate golf at Louisiana Tech University from 2008 to 2012 where he also served on the Board of Directors for the NCAA Student Athletic Advisory committee. During his time at Louisiana Tech University, Jonathan received Academic and Athletic All-Conference Honors all four years he competed, was named Outstanding Senior Scholar by the KPMG College of Business, selected for membership into the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society for business. Jonathan earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics, and a Master of Science in Business Administration, from Louisiana Tech University.


Victor A. Canto, Ph.D.

Victor A. Canto, Ph.D. is the economic consultant to Timber Point Capital Management. Victor founded La Jolla Economics Inc., an economics consulting firm. From 2004 to 2016 he was an adviser to the Lazard Capital Allocator Series. From 1993 to 1998, he was Chief Investment Officer, Director of Research and portfolio manager at Calport Asset Management. From 1989 to 1997 he was President and Director of Research at A. B. Laffer, V. A. Canto and Associates. Victor has been an adviser to governments and a tenured finance and economics professor at the University of Southern California. He received his doctorate in Economics in 1977 and a Master of Arts degree in Economics in 1974 from the University of Chicago and his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1972.


Ron Robertson

Ron Robertson is the Head of Coaching and Mentorship at Timber Point Capital Management, LLC where his sole mission is to help Timber Point RIA clients grow their AUM and franchise value. Ron has been in the investment business since 1994 primarily focused in high net worth estate planning, asset management and fund of funds investing. Ron served as President of Aslan Asset Strategy which met the investment needs of a multi-generational family in the Pacific Northwest. Subsequent to Aslan Asset, he built SGC Investors, an $800 million RIA, over the course of twenty years which he sold in 2014. Ron also participated in the launch and operation of GSI, a multi-strategy fund of funds which grew AUM to over $150 million, where he was responsible for conducting due diligence on many major hedge funds. Ron graduated with a BS in Marketing from Western Washington University.

Q3 2021 Market Outlook

As often is the case, the equity market overcame a litany of worries this past quarter as many of the more macroeconomic and policy-oriented concerns quickly dissipated and investors focused on the re-opening of the global economy.
